About The Position

Ford is seeking a Product Development Engineer to contribute to transforming the future for customers, communities, and families by building more than vehicles. The Product Development team utilizes design thinking and user experience methods to deliver innovative, exciting, and sustainable products and services, with opportunities globally in autonomy, electrification, and smart mobility technologies. In this role, an Exterior Systems D&R (Design & Release) Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of specific parts, including front and rear bumpers/fascias, grilles, GOR, AGS, AAD battery trays, wheel arch liners, and underbody shields for assigned programs. This engineer will also lead early development and system feasibility in collaboration with studio and program management teams. The role emphasizes continuous design efficiency, focusing on improvements in quality, cost, and weight, and ensuring parts comply with Corporate, Local, and Global Regulatory Requirements, Worldwide Customers Requirements (WCR), Engineering Specifications (ES), and Systems Design Specifications (SDS). Additionally, the D&R engineer will ensure parts meet Manufacturing and Assembly requirements and oversee their incorporation at Assembly Plants.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, validate and release parts (Front and rear bumpers/fascias, grilles, GOR , AGS, AAD battery trays, wheel arch liners and underbody shields) under their responsibility for assigned program(s)
  • Lead early development and system feasibility with studio and program management team(s)
  • Responsible for continuous design efficiency which includes but is not limited to design improvements to quality, cost, and weight
  • Design parts in compliance with Corporate, Local, and Global Regulatory Requirements, considering WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements), ES (Engineering Specifications), SDS (Systems Design specifications)
  • Design parts that meet Manufacturing and Assembly requirements and oversee incorporation at the Assembly Plant(s)
