About The Position

The Product Development Coordinator will help develop components that make up the bill of materials (BOM) for our finished plant products. This individual will also work closely with the product development manager throughout the Product Development Process (PDP) process to aid in completion of various stages and tasks as assigned. This role will serve as a function of our marketing department but will require weekly interactions across many departments. This position requires effective communication skills and a teamwork mentality when it comes to solving problems. You may also be required to interact with vendors and skilled trade professionals on occasion.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or greater
  • Valid drivers license & access to vehicle for occasional transportation between facilities (less than 1 mile)
  • Physically able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Detail-oriented with excellent project management, organizational, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Travel up to 15%

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years related work experience
  • Knowledge of horticulture industry
  • MS Office Suite and MS Excel- intermediate or advanced skill level

Responsibilities

  • Help design bill of materials (BOM) to ensure product integrity and appeal under varying shipping and display conditions
  • Help test, analyze, and select packaging materials based on feasibility, durability, cost effectiveness, and quality assurance
  • Help ensure packaging complies with all regulations
  • Collaborate with product development manager and team(s) for our product development process (PDP) and product lifecycle management (PLM) processes
  • Evaluate effectiveness of product and packaging
  • Determine solutions and specifications for needed plant product and/or packaging items
  • General packaging development as needed, as requested, or as cost savings/innovation opportunities arise
  • Support in the sharing new ideas to company stakeholders and product development team
  • Support supplier development team as it relates to launching outsourced items and use of GCG BOMs
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy of information flow between design, development, and merchandising teams.
  • Provide guidance in product upgrades to meet changing business demands
