About The Position

The Product Developer at The Olive Oil Factory, LLC is responsible for formulating and developing new food products, particularly sauces and condiments. This role involves creating recipes from scratch, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, and collaborating with various teams to bring products to market. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food science and experience in food manufacturing, particularly in developing acidified sauces.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of recipe and development experience or educational equivalent.
• At least 3 years in formulating and commercializing acidified sauces and condiments (preferred).
• Proven track record of working independently and collaboratively with QA, Sourcing, and Product Development teams.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and understanding of the bigger picture.
• Knowledge of trending and complementary ingredients and flavors.
• Desire to stay updated with industry best practices for formulation and manufacturing.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in food science or food manufacturing education.
• Familiarity with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop new SKUs from scratch and recreate customer kitchen recipes.
• Establish specifications for raw materials prioritizing quality and market availability.
• Initiate communication with vendors for samples and specifications.
• Work with purchasing to acquire sample materials for recipe tests.
• Develop multiple samples and associated information for customer feedback.
• Provide formula input for product costing documentation.
• Support the Commercialization Manager with assigned tasks.
• Ensure formulas can be run on production equipment and comply with food safety programs.
• Collaborate with the production team to ensure lab recipes translate to commercial production.
• Generate new BOMs and items in ERP.
• Maintain recipe and development lab supplies and equipment.
• Create and maintain an accurate recipe database.
• Work with QA to get NFP/labels approved and update BOMs as needed.
