The Product Developer I plays a key role in the execution of Mystery Ranch’s product development process. This position works closely with the Product Development Manager, Designers, Product Managers, factory partners, and raw material suppliers to ensure that all product designs meet functional, manufacturing, and brand standards. The Product Developer I is responsible for managing product specifications, prototypes, and development samples, while applying strong procedural knowledge and independently resolving non-routine development challenges.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in product development.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • Professional, respectful, and positive communication style.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Demonstrated initiative and follow-through on responsibilities.
  • Strong sewing skills and understanding of soft goods construction.
  • General knowledge of technical fabrics and trims.
  • Ability to manage timelines and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Audit product designs for construction efficiency, manufacturing viability, and alignment with brand standards and functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with Designers and Product Managers to implement design changes and improvements.
  • Create in-house prototypes and manage factory prototyping to meet development calendar milestones.
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in the PLM system; verify accuracy and audit factory BOMs for consistency.
  • Communicate complete and accurate product specifications to factory partners to ensure proper execution during sampling and pre-production.
  • Build reference samples for Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams; and articulate construction procedures via product instructions.
  • Assist in raw material sourcing and ensure materials meet Mystery Ranch’s “Fit for Use” standards.
  • Support Bozeman production team with sample builds and provide feedback on construction techniques.
  • Execute assigned projects within established product development calendars and project requirements.
