About The Position

We’re hiring a Product Designer to help lead the evolution of Fieldguide’s design system and support product teams across the company through horizontal design work. This role is ideal for a junior designer who is excited to learn how high-quality products get built — not just designed — and who wants hands-on experience defining UI foundations, working closely with engineers, and shipping production-ready components. You’ll play a key role in shaping the building blocks of our product, from defining component behaviors and interaction states to helping align Figma and Storybook. You’ll also partner with product teams to support overflow projects, applying user-centered design practices across a variety of workflows.

Requirements

  • You’re early in your product design career and excited to build strong fundamentals
  • You’re curious about how design systems work and want hands-on experience building and maintaining one
  • You enjoy collaborating closely with engineers and learning how designs translate into code
  • You’re comfortable working across multiple projects and shifting context as needed
  • You care deeply about consistency, usability, and quality in UI
  • You’re interested in AI-powered products and how AI shows up in real user workflows
  • You’re open to feedback, eager to learn, and motivated by growth through doing

Responsibilities

  • Help define, build, and maintain Fieldguide’s design system foundations, including components, patterns, and interaction states
  • Partner closely with Engineering to ensure alignment between Figma and Storybook, contributing to shared understanding and implementation quality
  • Document component usage, behaviors, and best practices to support consistency and reuse
  • Learn and apply Fieldguide’s design-to-development cadence, shipping work that is practical, scalable, and production-ready
  • Support product teams through horizontal design contributions, helping unblock overflow work and maintain design quality
  • Apply user-centered design practices to smaller product initiatives, incorporating feedback and iteration
  • Assist in designing AI-assisted UI patterns with a focus on clarity, trust, and usability
  • Participate in design critiques, reviews, and collaboration across the design team
  • Continuously improve craft through feedback, mentorship, and hands-on execution

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation packages with meaningful ownership
  • Flexible PTO
  • 401k
  • Wellness benefits, including a bundle of free therapy sessions
  • Technology & Work from Home reimbursement
