About The Position

We’re hiring a Product Designer to help shape the future of our AI-powered assistants and tools.
You’ll work on two core areas:
Search Copilot — our AI-powered partner that helps users search, analyze, and transform information across meetings, Slack, email, and documents.
Ada — our emerging AI assistant and digital twin, you’re joining at the moment this product hits the market, and your job is to help make it succeed with real users.
Today, these tools are technically powerful, but this role exists to turn them into intuitive, trusted, and deeply embedded parts of the Read experience.
You’ll design how AI shows up across surfaces, how users interact with probabilistic systems, and how assistants become true workflow partners.
This team moves fast. You’ll ship improvements, prototype new interaction patterns, and collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Engineering to push boundaries responsibly.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of product design experience
• Experience designing for AI-powered tools or intelligent systems
• Strong interaction design and micro-interaction skills
• Comfort designing for probabilistic systems and imperfect outputs
• Content design strength—clear, concise, user-centered writing
• Ability to prototype quickly and iterate in fast-moving environments
• Strong collaboration skills across Product, Engineering, and Data Science
• Comfort operating in ambiguity while shipping consistently in a faced-paced environment
• You’re curious about how AI changes interaction models.
• You’re comfortable experimenting.
• You care about clarity in complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Design AI-Native Experiences
• Improve and evolve Search Copilot into a core workflow tool, not just an entry point
• Expand Ada beyond email into a more capable, embedded assistant
• Design for probabilistic systems, balancing power, clarity, and trust
• Shape how AI integrates across web and other touchpoints
• Elevate Usability & Integration
• Simplify complex AI outputs into actionable experiences
• Improve discoverability across product surfaces
• Define micro-interactions that communicate confidence, uncertainty, and system state
• Reduce friction in high-volume, content-heavy workflows
• Strengthen Content & Communication:
• Craft thoughtful microcopy for prompts, empty states, error states, and AI explanations
• Design for clarity in ambiguous or uncertain outputs
• Partner with PM and Engineering to define tone and behavior for assistant interactions
• Prototype & Experiment:
• Rapidly prototype new AI interaction patterns
• Explore different input modalities, including voice and conversational interfaces
• Collaborate closely with Data Science to test, iterate, and refine experiences
• Bring an experimental spirit that inspires the broader design team

Benefits

• The annual base salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $150,000 plus equity and benefits.
