About The Position

Designing the lightest, thinnest, most robust and high performance consumer products requires a deep understanding of structural design and solid mechanics. Apple’s Product Design FEA Team is committed to pushing the boundaries of design through simulation and modeling. We truly believe in the power of predictive simulation to make the impossible possible, transform industries and improve people’s lives. As a key member of the Hardware Engineering organization and leader of the FEA team, you will oversee a world class team of engineers who’s understanding of mechanics, materials and numerical methods impact the success of products including: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision Pro and and future products. Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Material Science, or similar discipline.
  • Significant experience developing and leading teams that perform analysis or mechanical design duties.
  • Self-motivated leader who can identify areas for improvement and drive innovation inside and with partner teams.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and written and verbal communication.
  • Strong knowledge of solid mechanics.
  • Experience using implicit and explicit finite element analysis (FEA) in support of product development.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with passion for creating cutting edge products.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with Abaqus, LS-Dyna or similar advanced FEA codes.
  • Preferred experience with system level modeling and simulation.
  • Preferred experience with test vs simulation correlation.
  • Preferred experience with consumer electronics product development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a world-class team of Finite Element Analysis experts.
  • Engage deeply with design engineers on every product at Apple.
  • Develop engineers to maximize their impact as analysts, teammates, and future leaders.
  • Oversee a roadmap for process improvements.
  • Ensure appropriate allocation of resources across the many Apple product lines.
  • Build and maintain relationships with design and reliability leaders at Apple.
