About The Position

We are currently seeking a Product Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design consumer products that meet functional, aesthetic, safety and cost requirements while supporting cross-functional engineering and manufacturing needs. The position contributes technical expertise throughout the product development cycle, including concept creation, prototyping and durability evaluation. It involves collaborating across teams, clearly communicating design intent and working with diverse materials and modalities to deliver reliable, high-quality product solutions. Applicants should be proficient in creating and modifying 3-D designs in SolidWorks (or a similar CAD package), including assemblies and detailed drawings. The ideal candidate also has hands-on experience supporting manufacturing activities, such as validating vendors, assisting with assembly SOPs, performing in-process inspections and helping resolve production issues.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in design engineering
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD design (SolidWorks or similar), including assemblies and detailed drawings
  • Strong understanding of product design principles, including functionality, durability, safety, and cost considerations
  • Experience selecting and working with a range of materials (e.g., plastics, metals, wood, textiles, foams)
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and production methods
  • Hands-on experience supporting manufacturing activities (e.g., vendor validation, inspections, assembly support, troubleshooting production issues)

Nice To Haves

  • EIT certification
  • CSWP (Certified SolidWorks Professional) certification
  • Experience with prototyping tools (e.g., 3D printing) and proof-of-concept development
  • Familiarity with structural packaging principles and furniture design.

Responsibilities

  • Designing consumer products in SolidWorks; creating functional, safe, durable and aesthetically appropriate designs within cost targets
  • Supporting quality engineering activities by incorporating development, hardware and manufacturing requirements into designs
  • Participating in product development meetings, providing design input, and collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams
  • Assisting in providing detailed responses for product and technical requests
  • Building proof-of-concept models and prototypes using in-house 3-D printers and other tools.
  • Sharing design concepts with team members during product reviews and group discussions
  • Working collaboratively across departments to maintain effective internal relationships, help translate technical concepts clearly, and promote teamwork.
  • Performing stress analyses of components to support durability assessments
