Lead the end-to-end design and engineering integration of a next generation overmolded iPhone display module, accounting for critical features such as manufacturability, reliability, watersealing, and antenna performance. Work closely with a range of technical and operations disciplines spanning many cross-functional teams to define engineering requirements and manage the resolution of challenges associated with integrating key technologies into the product. Partner with overseas manufacturers to ensure designed parts are mass producible. Resolve issues and ensure the design meets requirements throughout its lifecycle by applying mechanical and material engineering principles to conduct failure analysis and determine root cause. Parse and synthesize large datasets and complicated design details into visual summaries that clearly communicate issues and proposed solutions. Develop innovative analysis tools and methods to assess performance of new, breakthrough technologies invented for iPhone. International travel required 20%. 40 hours/week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Material Engineering, or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
  • 1 year of experience using 3D CAD to model novel mechanical and electromechanical components.
  • Experience designing for manufacturability (DFM) including familiarity with display overmolding, flexible printed circuit board fabrication, sheet metal stamping, plastic and metal injection molding, or CNC machining.
  • Experience designing for assembly (DFA) to enable high speed assembly operations.
  • Conducting tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Conducting static and dynamic mechanical analyses.
  • Understanding mechanics of materials principles.
  • Creating and reviewing technical drawings.
  • Understanding finite element method fundamentals.
  • Providing time-sensitive remote and in-factory support on manufacturing and assembly issues.
