About The Position

Seeking students with broad engineering skills and interests to work part-time at the Meehl Innovation Commons in Burke Center. Staff will work with entrepreneurs, inventors, industry, professors, teachers, and other students primarily on product development projects ranging from simple mechanical inventions to complex, multi-component prototypes. Meehl Innovation Commons functions as a free service for the Erie region, therefore, it is essential that its workers represent the university and its values well in every setting.

Requirements

• Electrical, mechanical, or plastics engineering-related experience
• Ability to work independently and self-manage
• Willingness to learn with minimal assistance
• Team-oriented work ethic

Nice To Haves

• Availability for occasional travel

Responsibilities

• Work on product development projects
• Engage in machine build projects
• Perform 3D printing and machine maintenance
• Conduct CAD work
• Prepare presentations and tutorials
• Participate in brainstorming sessions and meetings
• Maintain records (notes and database updates)
• Demonstrate general ingenuity
