You’ll work steps away from the production floor, enabling rapid learning, collaboration, and the satisfaction of seeing your designs come to life. #PoweredByPossibility We are hiring a: Product Design Engineer I Hannibal, MO (On‑site) About the Role The Product Design Engineer I creates and maintains 3D models and 2D drawings for Watlow products, including flanged heaters, pressure vessels, duct heaters, and screw plug heaters. This role focuses on executing design work within standard platforms, applying established options, and developing core skills in SolidWorks, GD&T, Watlow drafting standards, and engineering business processes. You will work under the guidance of experienced team members while contributing to safe, compliant, and manufacturable designs that support Watlow’s growing product platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Basic Excel and general computer skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and quality teams.
  • Curiosity, willingness to learn, and commitment to building strong engineering fundamentals.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with GD&T, ASME codes, or pressure‑vessel design.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments or hands‑on engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or engineering change processes.

Responsibilities

  • Convert customer requirements into 3D SolidWorks models and 2D drawings using standard templates and Watlow drafting standards.
  • Prepare ASME engineering calculations to support individual designs.
  • Create and maintain part numbers and bills of materials in the ERP system.
  • Collaborate with product engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality, and operations to ensure designs are agency‑compliant and manufacturable.
  • Support troubleshooting of design‑related issues on the manufacturing floor.
  • Participate in on‑the‑job learning with mentorship from senior engineers.
