Product Change Control Engineer Location: Decatur, IL Travel: Up to 5% Relocation Assistance: Available Visa Sponsorship: Not Available Job Summary: At Caterpillar’s Decatur, IL facility, we manufacture and assemble Large Mining Trucks and Construction equipment. In this role as a Product Change Control Engineer, you will report to the Manager Supply Chain Planning and will be primarily responsible for coordinating introduction of new product and engineering changes and provide management with the tools to monitor the overall progress and effectiveness of product programs. As a member of the Supply Chain team, you will need to have a growth mindset, promote continuous improvement, and help build a defect-free culture. Requirements

  • Knowledge of BIMS screens
  • Thorough understanding of Engineering Records, Manufacturing Releasing, Materials Scheduling, and Engineering Manufacturing Change Control procedures.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Manufacturing Application Systems: Knowledge of company and industry databases and applications used in a manufacturing environment; ability to operate, maintain and update these systems.
  • Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
  • Production Scheduling and Control: Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs; ability to utilize knowledge of daily manufacturing processes to assure quality deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • Green Belt Certification
  • Experience in more than one department, such as Engineering, Manufacturing, or Supply Chain
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as Tableau or Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Perform EMCC functions for the Product Change Control Team.
  • Determines most efficient and cost-effective methods to manufacture parts and the information necessary for implementing product changes and coordination of effective dates.
  • Performs a variety of specific tasks assigned by the Prod. Change Control Supervisor over and above those of a releasing analyst.
  • Reviews and enters data into the various systems, and ensures the proper release of engineering information, exhausting existing inventories, and coordination with NPI programs.
  • Follows progress of major engineering releases and changes to resolve difficulties.
  • Actively participate in New Product Programs, Product cost reduction and product improvement requests.
  • Reviews EDS information into MCS to create manufacturing bills of material.
  • Reviews MCS information into the EMCC system to establish effectiveness and monitor progress.
  • Coordinates all involved activity to implement change.
