About The Position

Dotdash Meredith is developing innovative products focused on user retention and repeat behavior, which require robust cohort analysis and a scalable analytics framework to drive actionable insights and inform strategic decision-making. As we build these new offerings, we are seeking a seasoned professional to establish foundational analytics practices that will enable our teams to make data-driven decisions. We are looking for a Product Analytics Consultant to lead the implementation of analytics tracking, tagging, and reporting for our new products. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, data operations, data science, and marketing teams to design and implement a robust analytics framework. Your efforts will ensure the collection of accurate, actionable data to better understand user behavior and drive retention improvements.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in product or digital analytics, preferably in media or technology industries.
  • Expertise with analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics 4, Amplitude, or Mixpanel).
  • Proficiency with tag management systems (e.g., Google Tag Manager).
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with BI tools (e.g., Looker).
  • Understanding of revenue models and monetization strategies, with experience using tools like Google Ad Manager to analyze and optimize revenue performance for user cohorts.
  • Proven ability to conduct cohort analysis, retention analysis, and user segmentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with agile product development processes and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in A/B testing and experimentation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of APIs and data integrations.
  • Prior consulting experience in New York, NY or similar markets.

Responsibilities

  • Design and assist with implementation of a comprehensive product analytics strategy tailored to new web- and app-based product offerings with a focus on retention insights.
  • Collaborate with engineering, data operations, data science, and product teams to define key events, metrics, and data requirements.
  • Configure and leverage existing analytics tools like Google Analytics, where possible, to achieve outcomes, or recommend and assist with implementation of new tools (Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc).
  • Establish tagging and tracking frameworks using tools like Google Tag Manager.
  • Work with Data Ops and Business Analysts to build dashboards and reports that provide insights into user retention, cohorts, and repeat behavior.
  • Collaborate with revenue and ad operations teams to implement analytics frameworks that track and optimize revenue metrics for cohorts, ensuring alignment with revenue goals and business objectives.
  • Conduct training sessions for internal teams to ensure proper usage of analytics tools and data.
  • Audit and troubleshoot existing analytics implementations for accuracy and scalability.
