About The Position

Position Summary: The Product Acquisition Technician performs all activities associated with purchasing pharmaceuticals for Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital pharmacy and The Guthrie Clinic.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent with a basic math and science background.
  • A minimum of three year’s previous pharmacy experience in the health care environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Processes all purchase orders for assigned areas and coordinates purchase of standardized drugs.
  • Monitors contract compliance to ensure full savings potential.
  • Maintain drug recall action log and submits report to safety officer monthly.
  • Process drug recalls
  • Communicates drug shortage and work with Pharmacy staff, Pharmacy Management and appropriate providers if necessary to ensure alternate therapy options available.
  • Establishes and maintains the proper professional and ethical relationships with all sales representatives.
  • Serves on committees as appropriate.
  • Participates in Quality Improvement process including: Identifying areas in which quality improvement process can be applied, collecting and organizing quality measurement data, and participating on Quality Improvement Teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality.
