About The Position

The Producer Services Accountant III is responsible for accurate and timely processing of financial transactions related to midstream activities, including natural gas purchases, sales, gathering, plant settlements, storage, and imbalances. This role assists with the settlement process, reconciles accounts, and supports month-end close activities. The ideal candidate brings strong energy industry experience, particularly in midstream operations, and possesses knowledge of natural gas scheduling, contracts, and revenue recognition. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of natural gas transportation, storage, gathering, plant settlements, contracts and revenue recognition principles.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and regulatory frameworks affecting the energy industry.
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills with the ability to work with large data sets.
  • Experience performing reconciliations and resolving discrepancies across multiple counterparties and systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the monthly settlement process for midstream assets including gathering services, physical gas purchase and sales deals, and imbalances.
  • Process and review accounting treatment of commercial transactions including gathering and purchase agreements, and structured deals, and storage transactions.
  • Reconcile gathering and plant statements and counter party invoices against internal records and scheduled volumes.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, contracts, or imbalances by working closely with scheduling, contracts, and commercial teams.
  • Reconcile monthly volumes and balance the upstream system.
  • Reconcile sales and gathering statements and prepare revenue summary schedules for upstream revenue accounting.
  • Prepare invoices and assist with processing payments for counterparties, including marketers, midstream service providers, utilities, and pipeline operators.
  • Support monthly and quarterly close activities for trading and transportation-related accounts, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure all revenue and expense transactions are recorded accurately in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Prepare variance analyses and financial reports for management review.
  • Maintain documentation to support internal controls and compliance with SOX and regulatory audits.
  • Assist with process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy of settlement and accounting processes.
  • Maintain working knowledge of gas plant and ERP systems related to natural gas accounting and settlements.
  • Support compliance with tax regulations and internal financial policies.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requests, including preparation of documentation and support schedules.
  • Support internal control procedures and proper documentation and support schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
