About The Position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Produce Quality & Freshness Stock, rotate, and replenish produce displays to ensure consistent freshness and availability (FIFO/rotation standards). Responsible for wrapping and packing produce once it has been prepared and/or trimmed. Inspect product throughout the day; remove damaged/expired items and maintain clean, safe product conditions. Perform trimming, cleaning, and preparation of produce as needed for display (per store standards). Monitor temperature and storage conditions in backroom coolers and on the sales floor as applicable. Receiving & Inventory Handling Assist with receiving produce deliveries: verify quantities/quality, report issues, and properly store product. Organize backstock and maintain clear labeling and storage practices. Support inventory counts, shrink awareness, and proper handling to reduce waste. Merchandising & Presentation Maintain accurate PLU labels Customer Service Greet customers and assist with questions (ripeness, usage, storage, flavor profiles, pairing with Japanese cooking). Direct customers to related products or departments as needed. Cleanliness & Food Safety Follow food safety and sanitation procedures (handwashing, glove use, cleaning schedules, cross-contamination prevention). Keep work areas, sinks, tools, prep surfaces, and floor areas clean and safe. Follow company policies for recalls, allergen awareness (if applicable), and safe disposal of spoiled product. Teamwork & Store Support Communicate stockouts, quality concerns, and equipment issues to the Produce Lead/Manager promptly. Maintain a professional, respectful work environment and follow all store policies.

Requirements

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and early mornings as needed.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, including safety rules and department procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail (freshness, rotation, labeling accuracy, display standards).
  • Ability to communicate in English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Produce, grocery, or food handling experience (retail or restaurant).
  • Familiarity with Japanese/Asian produce items and basic cooking uses (training provided if not).
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese is preferred.
