About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Produce Merchandiser to join our team and support our growing partnerships with retail grocery stores in New Jersey. In this hands-on role, you will focus on optimizing produce displays, ensuring product freshness, and driving sales through effective merchandising while providing occasional sales support. The ideal candidate is a produce expert who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and is passionate about fresh produce presentation and quality.

Requirements

  • Must have prior produce merchandising experience (e.g., in grocery retail, wholesale, or produce distribution) – this is essential.
  • 2+ years of experience in produce or grocery merchandising preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of fresh produce handling, quality standards, rotation, and display techniques.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a field-based role.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license (significant travel within NJ required).
  • Physical ability to lift and move cases of produce, set up displays, and stand for extended periods.
  • Availability for flexible scheduling, including early mornings, weekends, or holidays as needed for retail visits.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, retail, or related field a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Visit assigned retail partner stores across New Jersey to execute merchandising plans, including building and maintaining attractive, high-impact produce displays.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation, inventory management, and freshness of produce items to minimize waste and maximize appeal.
  • Set up promotional displays, signage, and planograms to highlight seasonal and featured products.
  • Monitor shelf space, product placement, and compliance with retailer standards to drive sales uplift.
  • Provide sales support as needed, such as gathering feedback from store managers, identifying opportunities for increased distribution, and assisting with order recommendations.
  • Report on store conditions, competitive activity, sales trends, and merchandising effectiveness to the Business Development Director.
  • Build strong relationships with retail partners to foster collaboration and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Handle occasional administrative tasks, including inventory reporting and expense tracking.
