About The Position

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Customer Service & Sales Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast and friendly service. Assist customers by making product suggestions. Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques (phone, intercom, one-on-one). Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer complaints and report to Store Director as needed. Produce Operations Plan daily operations and monitor production processes for profitability. Trim, cut, wrap, tray, display, and water produce. Build produce displays; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled products. Ensure cleanliness of work area and department. Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays. May be responsible for operation and maintenance of Salad Bar and Fresh-Made (where applicable). Follow and maintain department standards for freshness and quality. Staff Management Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance. Schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels. Possess specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening and closing procedures. Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees. Train employees on store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures. Identify and train employees with high potential for advancement. Initiate personnel actions such as interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions. Compliance & Safety Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook. Ensure proper code dating for all products within the department. Ensure proper signage, accurate pricing, and Country of Origin Labeling (COOL). Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and company policies. Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of work area, cooler, equipment, and display areas. Implement emergency procedures for equipment and software malfunctions. Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations. Inventory & Financial Control Prepare sales and inventory reports; conduct physical inventory every 4 weeks. Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness. Maintain inventory levels according to division directives; stock and rotate products. Maintain and organize produce cooler. Control shrink and costs. Equipment & Technology Implement correct product preparation techniques. Operate related equipment: pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, Sterilox machine, stem cutters, chopper, wire, hot glue guns, spray paint, heat sealing machines, and helium tanks. Operate computer software and electronic ordering devices to order products. Receiving & Processing Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify orders using invoices, inspect quality, report shortages, stock and rotate products. Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques. Properly condition and handle all indoor/outdoor plants, shrubs, and flowers. Follow proper processing procedures for all cut flowers. Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records. Complete and monitor daily log sheets, Fresh Made Production Chart, sales, labor, and other required paperwork. Communication & Leadership Attend and participate in sales meetings. Communicate sales goals, department performance, and opportunities to employees to ensure positive results. Ensure compliance with company grooming standards and dress code.
