Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions.
  • Engage in suggestive selling through phone calls, in‑store intercom announcements, and direct interaction.
  • Answer incoming calls professionally, resolve customer issues appropriately, and report concerns to the Store Director when needed.
  • Plan daily department operations and monitor production processes for efficiency and profitability.
  • Maintain knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensure department standards are consistently followed, including Fresh Made guidelines and product freshness standards.
  • Trim, cut, wrap, tray, display, and water produce according to company standards.
  • Build displays, rotate stock, and discard outdated or spoiled product.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and department.
  • Implement promotional and seasonal displays.
  • May oversee Salad Bar and Fresh-Made operations, where applicable.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; complete physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Control inventory to ensure product quality, freshness, and adequate quantities following division directives.
  • Stock and rotate products; maintain and organize the produce cooler.
  • Control shrink and costs through effective inventory and product handling practices.
  • Ensure proper code‑dating compliance for all products.
  • Perform receiving duties, including breaking down loads, verifying orders against invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, and stocking/rotating product.
  • Follow temperature, storage, and proper packaging guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain related equipment, including pallet jacks, hand trucks, scissors, knives, safety cutters, and Sterilox machines.
  • Maintain accurate department records and administrative paperwork.
  • Ensure proper product temperatures, accurate pricing, and Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) compliance.
  • Follow retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, company policies, and code‑dating requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary work area, cooler, equipment, and display areas.
  • Implement emergency procedures in the event of equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Comply with and ensure compliance with company grooming standards and dress code.
  • Perform all duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
  • Schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Train staff on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance.
  • Identify and develop employees with high potential for advancement.
  • Initiate personnel actions, including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary measures.
  • Communicate department sales goals, performance updates, and opportunities to employees.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings.
  • Operate computer software and electronic ordering systems to order product.
  • Complete and maintain daily logs, Fresh Made Production Charts, sales/labor reports, and other required documentation.
  • Perform other necessary and required duties as assigned.
