The Produce Manager is responsible for effective overall operation of the Produce Department to achieve sales and profit goals established for the department.

Requirements

  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs especially during times of high volume and/or stress.
  • Must be able to read and do simple math problems.
  • Wants to be part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • 18 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • SERV Safe Certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers within 10 feet and respond to questions promptly.
  • Provide accurate product information and recommendations.
  • Develop merchandising plans with leadership and set department goals.
  • Create weekly schedules to ensure coverage.
  • Receive, price and restock merchandise, maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Verify deliveries against invoices for quality, quantity, and condition.
  • Manage inventory for freshness, product rotation, and profitability.
  • Handle damaged or spoiled goods per company policy.
  • Train department staff on store methods and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records for invoices, price changes, spoilage, and in-store use.
  • Implement space management plans based on product movement and demand.
  • Keep products stocked, faced, and visually appealing; maintain wet racks.
  • Ensure correct pricing for packaged products, including allowances for tare weight.
  • Inspect displays regularly, removing damaged or expired items.
  • Rotate perishable merchandise and pull out-of-code products.
  • Maintain clear communication within the store and organization.
  • Ensure compliance with weights, measures, and labeling laws.
  • Differentiate between produce varieties by taste, preparation, and price.
  • Monitor the area for hazards and maintain a safe environment.
  • Adhere to scheduled hours and perform additional duties as assigned.
