The Produce Manager is responsible for leading the produce department to achieve high standards of freshness, quality, customer service, and profitability. This role oversees daily operations, inventory management, merchandising, food safety, and associate development while ensuring an exceptional shopping experience. Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of produce handling, food safety, and merchandising standards
  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks in a fast‑paced environment
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and work in refrigerated environments

  • Previous produce or retail management experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily produce department operations, including ordering, receiving, rotation, and merchandising
  • Ensure produce meets freshness, quality, and presentation standards
  • Control shrink, waste, and department expenses to meet financial goals
  • Maintain accurate inventory levels through forecasting and inventory practices
  • Hire, train, schedule, and develop produce associates
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and corrective action when needed
  • Foster a positive and accountable work environment focused on teamwork and service
  • Ensure proper staffing levels to support business needs
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by maintaining a clean, organized, and visually appealing department
  • Respond to customer questions and concerns promptly and professionally
  • Promote seasonal items, specials, and company programs
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Maintain proper handling, storage, and rotation procedures
  • Complete food safety logs, inspections, and required documentation
  • Ensure associates follow company policies, safety standards, and best practices
  • Execute merchandising plans, displays, and seasonal programs
  • Analyze sales trends and adjust product mix to maximize sales and freshness
  • Collaborate with store leadership to support overall store objectives
