About The Position

The Produce Manager is responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction and building a reputation for Ultimate Service within the Produce Department. This role involves leading the department's operations efficiently and profitably while coordinating human relations and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Produce Assistant Manager.
  • Ability to work and communicate with all levels of management and subordinates professionally.
  • Self-motivated with problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a fridge and/or freezer for long periods.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including bending, squatting, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walking.
  • Technical skills to perform basic math and computer tasks (Word, Excel, Email).
  • Ability to work at a fast-paced yet controlled manner.
  • Must maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to receive phone calls at home.
  • Flexibility to work various hours/shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Willingness to attend meetings, including out-of-town, requiring overnight stays.
  • Ability to transfer to another store within the area.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge, greet, and engage guests entering the department.
  • Hire, train, and manage performance of team members.
  • Communicate information distribution to the entire department.
  • Maintain a positive atmosphere, spirit, and morale within the department.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills through time management and delegation.
  • Develop team members and future leaders using available materials and systems.
  • Support and execute division concepts and programs.
  • Accountable for executing and meeting financial goals.
  • Identify areas of opportunity throughout the store and within the department.
  • Ensure quality and consistent product availability for guests.
  • Safeguard, control, and monitor all department assets, ensuring policies are implemented.
  • Practice safe work habits and maintain cleanliness and organization in the store.
  • Oversee department systems and processes for consistency and correctness.
  • Direct meetings with the department leadership team to plan production and promotion goals.
  • Verify team member schedules against business needs.
  • Coach and discipline team members as necessary in accordance with policies.
  • Verify that all books and manuals are kept updated.
  • Oversee inventory processes and reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to Food Safety Procedures.
  • Approve all purchase orders and maintain adequate inventory levels.
  • Train and test checkers in accurate produce recognition for guest satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate good conflict management skills.
  • Perform other duties assigned by upper management.
