About The Position

As a Produce Lead, you will play a crucial role in creating outstanding customer experiences through exceptional service. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and maintain a safe, clean, and fresh environment that encourages our customers to return. You will be tasked with achieving sales and profit goals established for the department while monitoring and controlling all established quality assurance standards. This position requires you to direct and supervise all functions, duties, and activities for the Produce department, ensuring that day-to-day operations run smoothly. You will embrace the Customer 1st strategy and encourage associates to deliver excellent customer service, demonstrating the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. In this role, you will adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, safety and food safety regulations, and company guidelines. You will promote trust and respect among associates, communicate company, department, and job-specific information, and establish performance goals for the department. Empowering associates to meet or exceed targets through collaboration and teamwork will be a key focus. You will also develop adequate scheduling to manage customer volume throughout hours of operation and help train and develop associates on various aspects of their jobs, including inventory management, stocking, and key retailing. Creating an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important, and appreciated is essential. You will answer questions, recommend products, offer product samples, and inform customers of produce specials. Regularly reviewing and inspecting products for quality and freshness will be part of your responsibilities, along with taking appropriate action with those items. You will utilize Fresh Insights to ensure proper sell-through and shrink reduction, recommend produce items to customers, and develop and implement a department business plan to achieve desired results. Working in refrigerated areas for extended periods and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds will be required. You will also implement merchandising promotional plans, keep associates informed about current and upcoming ads, monitor and control expenses, maintain inventory awareness, ensure price integrity, assist in inventory processes, and ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained. Reinforcing safety programs and practicing preventive maintenance will be critical to your success in this role.
