About The Position

The position involves implementing all company and division policies to achieve maximum sales and profits in the produce departments. The role requires flexibility to work various shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. A comprehensive understanding of department operations is essential, including managing people, merchandising, computer-assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, customer service, labor scheduling, and expense control. The position demands effective communication skills, the ability to make quick decisions, and the capability to handle stressful situations while maintaining a positive impression on associates and customers.

Requirements

  • Willingness to work flexible hours including mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Understanding of produce operations and general store operations.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make intelligent decisions quickly.
  • Experience in produce work or similar experience in food preparation.
  • Dependable work record reflecting integrity.
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable and cooperative manner.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role within a produce department.
  • Knowledge of customer service best practices.
  • Experience with inventory management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Implement company and division policies to maximize sales and profits in the produce department.

  • Manage all key components of department operations including managing people, merchandising, and inventory management.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, customers, and supervision.
  • Handle customer complaints and assist in store security.
  • Supervise all aspects of salad bar operations.
  • Plan and organize the activities of the produce department.
  • Direct the receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising of produce products.
  • Maintain adequate stock and supplies through proper ordering.
  • Analyze all aspects of the produce department and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide training and indoctrination for all department employees.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all areas of the department.
