About The Position

The position involves implementing all company and division policies to achieve maximum sales and profits in the produce departments. The candidate must be flexible and willing to work various shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. A comprehensive understanding of all key components of department operations is essential, including managing people, merchandising, computer-assisted ordering, inventory management, shrink control, customer services, labor scheduling, and expense control. The position also requires effective communication skills and the ability to make intelligent decisions quickly while handling stressful situations calmly.

Responsibilities

  • Implement company and division policies to maximize sales and profits in the produce department.

  • Manage all aspects of produce department operations including receiving, storing, pricing, and merchandising.
  • Supervise salad bar operations and ensure proper training of department employees.
  • Maintain effective communication with all store personnel and assist in store security.
  • Handle customer complaints and develop maximum customer relations through personal example.
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, and evaluating produce department personnel.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the produce department and preparation areas.
  • Analyze and make recommendations for improvements in produce department operations.
  • Perform all duties as assigned by the store manager and/or supervisor.
