About The Position

The position requires an individual to perform essential duties with accuracy and maintain a high level of productivity. The role emphasizes customer relations, morale within the department, compliance with company policies, and effective communication. The individual will be responsible for various tasks related to produce production, including slicing, peeling, stacking, organizing, washing, and finishing. Additionally, maintaining department security and awareness of competitive activity is crucial.

Requirements

  • Certification required for operation of forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • City, county, state, and/or federal certifications may be required including a food handlers permit.
  • Ability to write, speak, hear, and understand the spoken word.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating manuals.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Required to use or operate pallet jack, forklift, box cutters, ordering machine, computer, two-wheeler, knives, food processors, etc.
  • No experience required.
  • Basic math skills required including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Minimum age of 18 years; 21 years required to sell tobacco products and/or alcohol.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb. or more.

Responsibilities

  • Exhibit and develop maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior.
  • Promote a high level of morale within department and store through honest and open communication.
  • Comply with all company policies, programs, and directives as specified in the Code of Conduct.
  • Know and have the ability to cost out all material to determine proper retails.
  • Possess sufficient knowledge and ability to teach others all fundamentals of produce production.
  • Assist in maintaining effective department security in compliance with company policy and directives.
  • Maintain awareness of competitive activity within the store marketing areas as it relates to the Produce Department.
  • Maintain adequate and appropriate department records at all times.
