About The Position

The Produce Clerk provides prompt, courteous, and efficient customer service, maintains the produce department's presentation, and assists with inventory and stocking. Follow approved procedures for receiving products, pricing, and stocking to ensure accuracy, product quality, and proper rotation. Replenish the produce department's fruits, vegetables, and other items as assigned. Move products in and out of storage areas for proper display and storage of goods, including in refrigerating storage boxes. Assist in maintaining inventory control to ensure freshness, product quality, and turnover for maximum sales and to minimize out-of-stock or overstocked products. Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods. Monitor expiration dates of label goods to ensure only fresh products are available for customer purchase Maintain a clean, attractive, and friendly department to help ensure a favorable department image to customers. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of produce products and handling techniques.
  • Familiarity with retail stocking procedures and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to food handling.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Basic math skills for weighing and pricing.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective verbal communication skills for interacting with customers and team members.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in stocking and labeling.
  • Capability to adjust to changing situations, handle multiple demands, and work with diverse personalities.

  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including stocking, lifting boxes, and standing for extended periods.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No prior experience is required; on-the-job training is provided.
