The Produce Clerk is responsible for sorting, displaying, removing, and replenishing fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. This role involves maintaining the overall environment of the department by assisting Members with product knowledge and customer service, and ensuring all produce meets or exceeds company quality standards. The position requires adherence to club policies, procedures, and compliance, acting with honesty and integrity, and maintaining a safe and positive environment for members and colleagues. Team members are expected to embrace inclusion and diversity, work collaboratively, move with speed and agility, innovate, and maintain a friendly and positive attitude. The role also involves delivering service excellence to members, resolving concerns, and ensuring GOLD club standards are met daily, including stocking, executing promotional plans, maintaining accurate signage, and keeping the club clean and organized. Understanding departmental performance reporting and its connection to business impact is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.

  • Ensure all items are stocked and promotional plans executed.
  • Maintain visible accurate signage.
  • Keep the club clean and organized, inside and out.
  • Understand how to access and read production and/or financial performance reporting for your department.
  • See the connection between consistent execution and the positive impact it can have on the business.
  • Provide assistance to Members in the produce department.
  • Answer questions, recommend products and safe handling tips, and assist Members with finding products throughout the club.
  • Inspect, rotate, and store produce upon delivery.
  • Ensure that all received produce meets or exceeds company produce standards.
  • Rotate produce on the sales floor to ensure optimal freshness and variety.
  • Ensure cases and display areas are fully stocked.
  • Keep the produce displays neat and clean.
  • Remove products that are no longer suitable for sale.
  • Maintain the produce reserve stock area.
  • Date and rotate all back stock items.
  • Ensure the storage area is organized and condensed daily.
  • Follow established guidelines when disposing of damaged, spoiled, and/or expired products.
  • Assist Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize all produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
  • Generate signage for produce goods and perform price check functions when necessary.
  • Ensure all items are accurately priced and signed.
  • Maintain all club policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of this job.
