About The Position

The Produce Clerk is responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service in the produce department. This role involves ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the work area, reviewing merchandise for freshness, and assisting customers with their needs. The Produce Clerk plays a vital role in enhancing the shopping experience by being attentive and responsive to customer requests.

Requirements

• Less than High School education or equivalent experience.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction and count and record figures.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience in all customer interactions.
• Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading or unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly service to callers.
• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Practices proper sanitation procedures and ensures the work area is clean and neat.
• Reviews the status and appearance of merchandise for freshness and ensures adequate product supply.
• Checks in products, puts them away, and may review invoices.
• Removes trash in a timely manner and prepares, finishes, and replenishes products as necessary.
• Orders products and supplies as necessary and prices products for customers.
