About the position

The Assistant Produce Manager at Lazy Acres Natural Market is a management-in-training role focused on overseeing the Produce Department's operations. This position involves coordinating employee activities, ensuring high standards of customer service, and maintaining product quality and safety. The Assistant Produce Manager will also be responsible for training staff, managing inventory, and resolving customer complaints, all while embodying the company's commitment to health, wellness, and exceptional service.

Responsibilities

• Assumes all responsibilities of the Produce Clerk and Produce Shift Supervisor positions.
• Assists the Produce Manager with the ordering and receiving of products, and proper invoice routing.
• Acts as the Produce Manager on the sales floor when the Produce Manager is unavailable.
• Trains and coaches employees on procedures and tasks for the department, on an ongoing basis.
• Assures consistency and uniformity of work techniques and standards among department members.
• Resolves customer complaints in such a manner to assure return business.
• Writes up industrial accidents when they occur during a shift in the absence of the Produce Manager.
• Serves customers with a smile and a willing attitude.
• Assures high sales through establishing relationships with customers to ensure repeat business.
• Follows safety work standards and reports any safety hazards to the Produce Manager and/or Store Director.
• Maintains department under current health codes and company standards on sanitation and cleanliness.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent communication skills and good judgment during unexpected situations.
• Ability to train and supervise employees effectively.
• Strong customer service skills and ability to resolve complaints.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in the restaurant or retail industry.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food handling.
