The Produce Assistant Department Manager at Festival Foods plays a crucial role in supporting the Produce Department Manager by ensuring that the department operates smoothly and meets customer expectations. Requirements

  • High School Education or equivalent experience.
  • Leadership skills to motivate a team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of retail food business and perishable department operations.
  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Tactful and effective customer interaction skills.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and company policies.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as hand jack, baler, forklift, and cutter.
  • WI Certified Food Manager License (Festival will pay for certification if not already obtained).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a grocery or retail environment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Produce Department Manager and leads the department in their absence.
  • Reinforces Festival culture, customer service, and performance expectations to all Produce associates.
  • Trains new Produce associates and conducts performance reviews.
  • Documents policy violations and conducts corrective actions as necessary.
  • Answers questions and provides guidance to Produce department associates.
  • Ensures department standards are met and takes corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels and ensures accurate pricing.
  • Communicates cooperatively with Store Director and other managers to exceed guest expectations.
  • Provides customer service and assists guests with inquiries and special requests.
  • Contributes to the cleanliness of the department and maintains food safety logs.
