About The Position

The Research & Development Technician assists the R&D Specialist with the development of new products under the supervision and direction of the Research & Development Manager. Performs the raw trimming, cooking (pit operation), processing, packaging and shipment of new experimental products Performs sanitation of preparation areas Handles the restocking of items used in the preparation process Maintains an up-to-date inventory of retain samples Conduct AS400 transactions Keep detailed records for each sample (Excel experience a plus) Must be able to stand between 2 – 3 hours at a time Must be willing to follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) of the company which include but are not limited to: use of a hair net, use of gloves, use of a company approved frock and rubber boots, no jewelry, no nail polish or artificial nails, no shorts, no open-toed shoes, no ripped clothing or rhinestones/glitter on clothing, no chewing gum, candy or tobacco. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The floors in the environment are often wet and can be slippery. The employee regularly works nearing moving mechanical parts. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Frequent use/motion of hands, wrists and arms are required The employee is often required to stoop, kneel, crouch or bend This is a full-time position. 40+ hours per week. Hours of work: Typically, Monday through Friday rotating 2 weeks on days and 2 weeks on nights. Start and finish times vary depending on assigned department and workload. Weekends and overtime hours are often required. Schedule is subject to change with or without advanced notice.

Requirements

  • Proficient with basic computer skills
  • Able to read/write

  • Previous research and development experience in a manufacturing environment
