The Strategic Buyer is responsible for ensuring that goods and services are procured as necessary to ensure supply for the organization and is also responsible for the strategic management of some categories. This role will be involved in PO lifecycle management activities and serve as a subject matter expert and a point of contact for questions and issues relating to the buying processes for the stakeholders in their location. For select categories, this role will develop the detailed category management strategy, identify opportunities, own the category strategy implementation and execution activities, define the annual goals, and will be the primary owner of the management of the supplier relationship process, including assessing and evaluating suppliers, contributing to performance reviews and working with suppliers to resolve price, quality, or delivery issues.
