About The Position

The Procurement Project Manager is responsible for managing the procurement of materials, components, and services that support manufacturing operations. This role requires independent decision-making, supplier negotiation, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and on-time supply. The Procurement Project Manager plays a key role in supplier performance management and continuous improvement and cost savings initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 37 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience negotiating with suppliers and managing vendor relationships
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to independently manage multiple commodities or suppliers
  • Advanced negotiation and cost analysis skills
  • Supplier relationship and performance management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration
  • High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with strategic sourcing and long-term supplier agreements
  • APICS, CPSM, or similar professional certification
  • Experience sourcing both domestic and international suppliers
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices

Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement activities for assigned commodities or supplier groups
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to support production, cost, and meet required due dates
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, contracts, and terms within delegated authority
  • Issue and manage purchase orders; proactively expedite and resolve supply issues
  • Participate in supplier performance reviews and drive corrective actions when needed
  • Partner with Planning, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to align material availability with business needs
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers; support dual-sourcing and risk mitigation efforts
  • Support cost-reduction, value engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure purchasing data accuracy and compliance within ERP/MRP systems
  • Mentor junior buyers or purchasing coordinators as needed
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, contracts, and regulatory requirements
