About The Position

As a Procurement Manager, you will establish and lead a formal procurement function designed to support scalability, governance, and future MRP readiness. This role focuses on strategy, process design, and vendor framework development— not day-to-day purchasing execution. You will partner closely with Purchasing, Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Systems leadership to define procurement standards, strengthen vendor models, and align sourcing processes with long-term organizational growth.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience building or leading a procurement or sourcing function
  • Strong understanding of procurement strategy, vendor management, and purchasing workflows
  • Experience designing cross-functional processes and governance models
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Systems
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Comfortable operating in dynamic, evolving environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting ERP or MRP implementation initiatives
  • Background in manufacturing, engineering, construction, or project-driven environments
  • Experience collaborating with established purchasing teams
  • Familiarity with materials governance and inventory data management

Responsibilities

  • Establish procurement as a formal business function with defined structure and operational framework
  • Develop procurement policies, standards, and governance models
  • Design scalable procurement processes aligned with future ERP and MRP initiatives
  • Create documentation and workflows to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Advise leadership on vendor strategy, preferred supplier models, and sourcing approaches
  • Define vendor performance standards and governance expectations
  • Develop reporting frameworks to monitor vendor performance, risk, and compliance
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support cost control and continuous improvement
  • Define internal standards for identifying and representing materials independent of distributor part numbers
  • Establish criteria for when to create new inventory items versus reuse existing ones
  • Design processes that allow multiple vendor part numbers to map to a single internal inventory ID
  • Partner with Engineering, Purchasing , and Systems to ensure part definitions are based on manufacturer specifications and functional equivalence
  • Reduce duplicate inventory items and improve inventory visibility and MRP readiness
  • Support Purchasing by defining clear standards, workflows, and decision frameworks
  • Clarify ownership and handoffs between Procurement and Purchasing
  • Strengthen purchasing effectiveness while maintaining day-to-day buying responsibility within Purchasing
  • Ensure procurement processes align with ERP and MRP system requirements
  • Collaborate with Materials Governance and Systems teams on part data and sourcing alignment
  • Identify process or data gaps that could impact planning accuracy
  • Evaluate current purchasing practices to identify inefficiencies or risk
  • Implement scalable improvements to strengthen governance and control
  • Continuously refine procurement strategy as the organization evolves
