Role Summary: The Procurement Manager, Process & Policy, is responsible for governing procurement policies, enabling consistent processes, and maintaining procurement systems and data integrity across the enterprise. This role oversees the development of standard operating procedures across end-to-end procurement practices, manages documentation controls required for audit reviews, tracking, compliance reporting, and cross‑functional requirements coordination. The manager drives process mapping and improvements, supports procurement system implementations and documentation, resolves system/process issues, and produces procurement‑wide standards to strengthen operational excellence and compliance. Team Summary: The Global Procurement Team is responsible for acquiring goods and services essential to athenahealth’s operations while managing the entire procurement process—from strategic sourcing to payment. The team focuses on strategic supplier selection, contract negotiations, transactional and market data analysis, and continuous process improvement. Their mission is to drive efficiency, mitigate risks, and deliver measurable value and benefit for goods and services’ requirements across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Business, or related field (preferred).
  • 8–10 years of experience in procurement operations, procurement governance, supplier risk, or process excellence roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement processes and workflows, and audit documentation readiness.
  • Proficiency with procurement systems (Oracle, Workday Strategic Sourcing (WSS), P2P tools) and data management.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and process‑mapping capabilities.
  • Experience collaborating with Finance, Legal, IT, Information Security and Operational teams.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, quality, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain procurement policies, SOPs, and process documentation required to ensure consistent, repeatable and compliant practices.
  • Deliver procurement training for teams and stakeholders.
  • Maintain audit‑ready documentation and support internal/external audits, including inquiries, remediation tracking, and corrective actions.
  • Map, standardize, and improve end‑to-end procurement processes (sourcing through P2P) and maintain guidance on AI‑enabled sourcing practices used in daily leader standard work.
  • Support system implementations, enhancements and documentation of procurement technologies—including Oracle/P2P and WSS or other required procurement systems or tools.
  • Troubleshoot procurement system issues, partnering with IT and functional teams to resolve errors and support end‑users.
  • Ensure procurement‑wide data quality and appropriate information access to manage and maintain increased compliance, and to enable consistent, reliable workflows.
  • Maintain sourcing templates, workflow standards, and documentation across shared repositories, procurement sites and TEAMS channels.
  • Work closely across the Procurement team, and with Finance, Legal, Operations, InfoSec, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on policies, process designs, and procurement system usage.
  • Lead the development of SOPs, training materials, and guidance documentation to improve procurement capability and to support stakeholders’ awareness and on-boarding needs.
  • Identify process gaps and improvement opportunities across procurement operations.
  • Provide guidance on process, policy, systems, and compliance best practices.
  • Provide support in the use of AI as a daily leader standard work mechanism for reducing time to market given sourcing standard practices.
  • Support change‑management efforts related to new and/or updated processes, policies, and systems.
