Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science or technical field
  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree
  • Knowledge to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs
  • Must be familiar to relevant quality control standards and nuclear industry regulations
  • Ability to effectively manage team priorities and maintain strong supplier relationships
  • Experience working with procurement software or systems (e.g., Microsoft Project, Enterprise Resource Planning)
  • Good communication skills to work effectively with all levels of staff, management, vendors, and customers
  • Good problem identification and resolution skills
  • Excellent report development and presentation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with material machining, forming, and/or welding is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Works with design engineers during the product development and design phases to define technical specifications and requirements for materials, components, and manufacturability.
  • Reviews and interprets engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs) and other technical documents to align with procurement needs, providing technical guidance to internal teams on material selection, manufacturing processes and supplier capabilities.
  • Leads the technical evaluation and qualification of new suppliers, including on-site assessments of production capability, quality systems, and risk profile.
  • Resolves technical issues with suppliers during development and manufacturing, ensuring their processes can consistently meet our technical and quality specifications of the components.
  • Coordinates and executes strategic sourcing plans for all critical components, including make-or-buy analyses for complex or customer-fabricated components.
  • Ensures all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.
  • Conducts research to identify suppliers and manufacturing partners to develop supplier panels that support the company's long-term vision for manufacturing.
  • Assesses and mitigates supply chain risks associated with a new product, including single-source dependencies, intellectual property concerns, and geopolitical instability.
