About The Position

Works autonomously in leading major, high-dollar, complex sourcing or contract development events. Serves as the subject matter expert for assigned categories of large or complex spend, custom requirements, or that support emerging or evolving programs or needs across or within the business units. Serves as a consultant to Category Managers, business units and Procurement Professionals in assigned categories on sourcing or contract development and formation. Writes the business deal and works with representatives of AEP legal, risk, safety, and other areas to secure AEP business interests. Possesses the skills to direct the work activities of the Procurement Professional or the Procurement Analyst. Individual shall have the skills to effectively engage business unit leadership and Supply Chain Procurement and Fleet Operations (SCPFO) leadership to accomplish procurement goals.

Requirements

  • Procurement Consultant SG7
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, supply chain, or other related field; Or 4 years of relevant work experience.
  • In addition to any experience required above, 2 years of relevant work experience, including experience working with cross-functional teams is required.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills desired
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) desired with an ability to communicate with business partners, stakeholders, and suppliers
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to help develop and evolve category management processes and engage suppliers on operational, strategic, and financial issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Supply chain category management experience, preferably within the utility, manufacturing, or construction industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with Maximo and Cognos preferred

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and negotiate moderately complex contracts and related documents (master services agreements, purchase orders, SOWs, NDAs, and other agreements).
  • Administer the full contract lifecycle, intake, approvals, signature/execution (Maximo, Agiloft, DocuSign), performance monitoring, amendments, renewals, and closeout.
  • Ensure contractual arrangements mitigate commercial and legal risks while working with stakeholders (e.g. legal, risk, insurance, credit risk, cyber).
  • Support category managers in defining appropriate payment terms and schedules, milestones, freight terms, and act as the liaison between the business unit partners and the supplier.
  • Establish effective relationships with business partners and suppliers to support category strategies aligned to corporate objectives.
  • Coordinate with key suppliers and business partners on the delivery of high-value manufactured equipment and materials, including price escalation and cost containment provisions.
