The Procurement Buyer/Planner plays a crucial role in ensuring that materials are available to meet the production schedule, support prototype builds, and fulfill customer service and sales requirements. This position is primarily focused on material planning, which is essential for maintaining the flow of production and meeting operational goals. The individual in this role will be responsible for managing inventory levels, supporting material and product level revisions, and coordinating with suppliers to ensure that all material needs are met in a timely manner. Additionally, the Procurement Buyer/Planner will support manufacturing through effective work order planning and management, ensuring that all necessary materials are available when needed. In this temporary position, which is filling in for an employee on extended leave, the Procurement Buyer/Planner will review material requirements and place purchase orders with suppliers as dictated by the production schedule. Another key responsibility is to determine and establish optimal inventory levels based on demand and material lead times. The Procurement Buyer/Planner will coordinate material flows throughout production, including managing changes and the introduction of new suppliers or materials due to new product development or obsolescence. Managing the inter-company flow of materials and finished goods between warehouse locations is also a significant aspect of this role. The individual will need to resolve issues related to purchase orders, invoice discrepancies, returns, and quality problems with suppliers. At times, the Procurement Buyer/Planner may provide backup support for supply chain functions, including shipping, receiving, and material handling. The role also involves setting up and maintaining material master system planning parameters, such as Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ), lead time, and safety stocks. Collaboration with internal customers is essential to provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions and alternative supply options. The Procurement Buyer/Planner will work closely with the Senior Buyer/Planner to manage and optimize freight options and costs. Additionally, the individual may support the Request for Quotation (RFQ) process and perform any other tasks assigned by management.
