About The Position

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, process all incoming donations. Major duties include sorting donations, pricing items, operating machinery, and maintaining the processing area in a clean and orderly fashion.

Requirements

• Ability to adhere to the organization’s Core Principles.
• Knowledge of donations as related to quality and classification.
• Knowledge of retail and/or stock handling.
• Ability to listen and follow directions.
• Previous retail and/or stock handling experience is preferred.
• Level 1: Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
• No computer skills are required for this position.
• Regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
• Vision abilities required by this job include: close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Standing and walking for long periods of time.
• Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, push and pull.
• Sufficient mobility to turn from side to side and the ability to lean and remove items from containers.
• Level 1: Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
• Level 2: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail and/or stock handling experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sort donations as they arrive into proper carts or bins and make proper determination as to the quality of donations; sort and box identified recyclable items.
• Price goods in special circumstances.
• Operate designated machinery in processing area.
• Keep production area clean and safe and other store areas as directed.
• Comply with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and procedures for Public Protection.
• Maintain well groomed appearance and appropriate dress code including name badge.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
