About The Position

The Processing Technician will lead work to ensure junior technicians complete tasks and ensure procedures are adhered to and work is completed during quality and operations on flight hardware integration processes. This position requires skill and experience in a variety of areas, including mechanical assembly, rigging, electrical checkouts and satellite troubleshooting. In short, you will be responsible for a majority of the most critical tasks to process & integrate the Leo satellite for launch, ensuring high quality, workmanship and safety standards are adhered to on a daily basis.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical hardware assembly, test, and/or installation
  • Able to obtain and maintain a US Passport & must meet customs entry requirements to include but not limited to: Yellow Fever vaccine and other immunization requirements as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • Ability to pass Kennedy Space Center background checks
  • Candidates must be 18 years or older with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.
  • Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and automated electrical testing
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environments
  • Experience in a fast-paced processing environment
  • Experience working with Foreign Object Debris (FOD), ESD sensitive hardware, and in a clean room
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes, rigging, and heavy equipment (including previous certifications)
  • A demonstrated ability in reading/understanding technical drawings, work instructions and standard operating procedures
  • Ability to use multiple types of precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive assembly operations
  • Able to climb ladders, work in tight spaces, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
  • Able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted

Responsibilities

  • This is an electrical test position. Experience with Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and automated electrical testing is preferred.
  • Can apply a deep understanding of a broad range of tools, equipment, and handling machinery to accomplish your daily tasks effectively and efficiently
  • Upholds all safety requirements in all zones and work locations of responsibility
  • Assists in the development of new and junior team members and adheres to standards and procedures
  • Independently execute and prioritize work to meet production schedules
  • Integration and test of the Leo satellite and various complex sub-assemblies in a clean-room and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) controlled environment
  • Rigging and critical lifts of bulky, sensitive flight hardware
  • Able to obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits, and/or certifications as required
  • Use precision calibrated tools – torque wrenches, multi-meters, optical inspection devices, micrometers and calipers
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
  • Run functional and environmental testing on units, including some basic troubleshooting operations
  • Use computer software programs for controlling tests
  • Check and inspect your work after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and document activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, to ensure an efficient, safe and effective work environment
