Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. The processing technician will work as part of a team for receiving the hardware, processing satellites into the cleanroom, support electrical test validation and battery charging, and other movements of the spacecraft through the launch operations workspace. The satellite operations consist of using with tools and equipment like overhead cranes and forklifts. The electrical test consists of operating a power supply system and requesting/reviewing data from the spacecraft. This individual with be mentored and work closely with their peers and lead, engineers, and other cross-functional organizations. This role is for 2nd shift but upon hiring/onboarding, the candidate will work 1st shift to train and onboard before transition to 2nd shift. The ideal candidate is new to the industry and willing to learn space products and how to handle hardware; be comfortable in a highly technical, fast-paced, and collaborative setting; is able to follow technical work instructions and team lead/peer/engineer direction; and support the team through processing operations. A day in the life The processing technician is a entry level person who has little to no industry experience. They should show mechanical and test ability but does not require to be from aerospace or space experience. The technician will meet with their team supervisors (lead, mentor, engineer) to understand objectives for the day. They will shadow and provide support to satellite processing operations in both mechanical and electrical efforts per direction from supervisor and work instructions provided by engineering. They will provide support to document completed work and work with their leads to report non-conformances as they occur. Periodically, they will learn and support the maintenance on the ground and facility systems supporting satellite movements. They will be expected to earn certificates in crane, forklift, and pallet jack usage as well as cross train with all other launch operations work areas, including propellant or integration, to support work surges and travel to other launch sites.
