About The Position

The primary purpose of this Administrative Specialist I position is to provide secretarial support for the Vocational Rehabilitation Program. This person is supervised by the District Rehabilitation Supervisor. This position is critical in providing services to consumers in each program in a timely and efficient manner. This position serves as a vital link for communication between the Vocational Rehabilitation Program counselors, consumers, physicians, postsecondary institutions, employers, and vendors. In addition, the processing assistant will answer the phones and direct calls to the proper individual. The processing assistant must be constantly aware of operational goals of both the Vocational Rehabilitation Program and Independent Living Program in order to assist callers to find the source for their questions. This requires maintaining contact by phone, mail, and in person with Medical Providers, social workers for the Blind, vendors, and other customers in order to convey information, material, and messages. This staff member will also assist the District Rehabilitation Supervisor with information and/or will complete tasks as required by the DRS. The processing assistant must use good judgment, discretion and good secretarial skills in order to assist the Counselors in case of emergency. The processing assistant in this position must also possess the knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. The position will provide support for adult and transition students in Cumberland County.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service
