About The Position

The Process Utilities Engineer II focuses on the design of the process utility equipment, systems and supporting facility infrastructure as a part of a highly interactive team. This individual is expected to execute work on one or more intermediate level tasks simultaneously and works closely with the Lead or Senior Engineer. The intermediate Process Utilities Engineer is expected to work closely with the Lead Engineer and have responsibility for defined scope of the project such as a unit operation, system or area. This individual should understand the project schedule and budget and develop a work plan to support the delivery of their scope in support of those broader team goals.

Requirements

  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or bioprocess engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related manufacturing or design firm setting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic exposure to applicable Industry or Regulatory Guidance and local building codes

Nice To Haves

  • Fundamentals of Engineering exam registration or completion
  • A high degree of proficiency performing or developing a variety of engineering calculations related to fluid mechanics, heat transfer or material and energy balances
  • Ability to provide leadership and interface with clients and external partners
  • Basic experience conducting field surveys of existing conditions and resolving and reporting field issues
  • Proficient with basic internal and external cross-discipline project team coordination
  • Proficient with basic coordination with construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers
  • Proficiency in 2D / 3D design platforms (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Programming

Responsibilities

  • Develops novel engineering calculations from first principles where an existing template is unavailable.
  • Develops construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on basic projects of limited complexity with oversight.
  • Provides support for construction activities such as RFI responses, submittal reviews, punch list development and construction progress reports.
  • Participates and contributes to squad checks to produce coordinated, high-quality deliverables.
  • Provides mentorship and guidance to Designer I to translate the engineering design into the Revit model with oversight from the Lead or Senior Engineer.
  • Supports the generation of deliverables which require more experience, deeper understanding or involve more complexity such as: Authoring Basis of Design Reports Contributing to Hazardous Material Summary Water /Waste Balances Heat Transfer Calculations Analyzing Simulation Outputs Process Descriptions Equipment Specifications Hygienic Piping Specifications Contributing to Room Cards
