About the Role Process Utilities Engineers focus on the design of critical utility equipment and distribution (or collection) systems along with the facility infrastructure required to support the manufacturing operations. Typical tasks include the execution of engineering calculations including heat transfer and hydraulic pressure drop calculations. The Entry-Level Process Utilities Engineer is responsible for supporting the documentation of the design scope in coordination with other disciplines. The Entry-Level Process Utilities Engineer may support field installation teams and execute construction site observations. This role is expected to work closely with other architects, engineers and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible and complete design.

  • Works closely with other architects, engineers and designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure a coordinated, constructible and complete design.
  • Able to work on one or more projects concurrently and manage time effectively.
  • Solves complex problems under the direction and supervision of a mentor or supervisor
  • Produce engineering deliverables including: o Process Flow Diagrams o User Requirements Specifications o Equipment List o Equipment General Arrangements o Equipment Datasheets o Utility Summary o Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or bioprocess engineering
  • 0 to 3 years of experience, preferably in a design firm setting
  • Fundamentals of Engineering exam registration or completion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Fundamental experience with performing engineering calculations for fluid mechanics and heat transfer, developing and implementing systems designs
  • Fundamental experience with chemistry
  • Fundamental experience with process modeling, material and energy balances and basic sizing calculations
  • Proficiency in 2D / 3D design platforms (AutoCAD, Revit, Solidworks, etc.
