About The Position

The Process Technician is responsible for coordinating scheduling; minimizing downtime; ensuring efficient setup and teardown; troubleshooting production issues to maintain quality; reducing scrap; ensuring proper inspections and documentation; guiding operators; driving process improvements; adhering to Altek’s core values, policies, and safety standards while fostering a positive, collaborative work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years’ experience in plastic injection molding processing
  • Knowledge of all aspects of injection molding machines
  • Experience with hand and power tools
  • Dexterity
  • Intermediate computer, reading, verbal, math and written skills
  • Skilled in installing injection molds and setting up auxiliary/secondary equipment (e.g., mold heaters, dryers, mills, presses, welders, etc.)
  • Experienced with gas assist, hot oil, and robot process setups and adjustments
  • Knowledgeable in material types, machine operations, and proper processing methods
  • Proficient in using tools like calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to ensure product quality
  • Ability to communicate and behave effectively with others in a team environment
  • Maintain a high level of quality output
  • Able to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints
  • Self-motivated
  • Ability to provide team support and assistance to co-workers as needed

Responsibilities

  • Minimizes operator and machine idle time by ensuring machines run continuously or have a plan in place after each production run
  • Starts teardown promptly after the previous run, neatly storing items and preparing for the next setup
  • Verifies all required materials (consumables, raw materials, equipment, documentation) are pre-staged before teardown/setup; alerts supervisor if any items are missing
  • Performs efficient setups, including purging, mold installation, program downloads, and equipment hookup, with focus on speed and accuracy
  • Troubleshoots production runs to achieve quality parts, minimizes scrap, and seeks help, when necessary, especially for significant startup scrap
  • Ensures product inspection meets quality standards, validates with inspector, and ensures proper documentation is completed
  • Drives process improvements, updates documentation, and shares improvements with the Process Engineer for retention
  • Completes end-of-shift tie-in
  • Pays close attention to detail when reading, writing or completing all work documentation
  • Adheres to Altek’s Vision, Core Values and Quality Policy, to ensure quality to customers, internal and external
  • Proactively maintains established company policies and manufacturing strategies
  • Builds and maintains positive rapport with other Altek employees, customers and/or suppliers
