The Process Technician III, located at our 316 plant in Chattanooga, TN, is a highly skilled technical role responsible for performing advanced die, color, and material changeovers, as well as start-up, optimization, and troubleshooting of injection molding machines. This position ensures equipment is running at peak efficiency to meet safety, quality, and production standards. The Level III technician serves as a technical resource and mentor for less experienced technicians and operators.

Requirements

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude and understanding of injection molding processes.
  • Proficiency in process troubleshooting and optimization techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and process documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Understanding of Food Safety, GMP, PRP, HACCP, and food contact material awareness (as applicable).
  • Working knowledge of decoupled molding and RJG methodology (preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Technical training or certification in Injection Molding Technology (preferred).
  • RJG training or certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Follows all safety policies and LOTO procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Sets up, adjusts, and optimizes injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and tooling for production runs.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for process deviations, quality issues, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Monitors and fine-tunes molding processes to ensure consistent part quality, cycle efficiency, and reduced scrap.
  • Conducts mold and material changeovers, ensuring proper setup, documentation, and adherence to process standards.
  • Collaborates with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to improve process capability and implement corrective actions.
  • Develops and maintains detailed process documentation, setup sheets, and parameter records.
  • Uses forklift and/or overhead crane to pull, change, or set molds.
  • Provides guidance and technical support to junior technicians and production staff.
  • Assists in new mold trials, process validations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment following 5S and GMP principles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
