About The Position

The Process Technician I role at BASF in Houston, TX, involves supporting the Performance Materials division by managing the operations of Polyurethane systems. This position is crucial for ensuring quality control, proper handling of materials, and compliance with safety standards while contributing to sustainable practices in the plastics industry.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and 2 or more years of experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Basic computer skills, including knowledge of Windows-based programs and email.
  • Ability to read simple instructions and write simple correspondence.
  • Good mathematical and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare batches according to blend sheets and perform quality control checks on materials prior to shipping.
  • Inspect tanks before loading and ensure correct product loading and quality control checks on inbound and outbound materials.
  • Assist in the storage and handling of chemicals per supplier specifications and conduct weekly counts of finished products and bulk raw materials for inventory control.
  • Coordinate with Traffic Control to set up loading and unloading schedules, ensuring proper loading per axle and compliance with specifications.
  • Receive non-inventory packages and distribute them to the correct personnel, palletizing according to customer work orders and securing freight for protection.
  • Perform daily forklift inspections, schedule repairs, and cross-train with co-workers to serve as a backup when needed.
  • Identify hazards and participate in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs.
