About The Position

Wood is currently recruiting for a Process Manager/Chief Process Engineer for its Technology & Products Service Line in Wood's Houston, Texas Office.  The Process Manager/Chief Process Engineer will be engaged in various process design activities relating to heavy oil’s processing technologies including Wood's proprietary Delayed Coking, Solvent Deasphalting, and Visbreaking technologies. The Process Manager/Chief Process Engineer will also be involved in engineering projects in other refinery process units such as Crude and Vacuum Units, Hydroprocessing Units (hydrotreating/hydrocracking), Hydrogen, and sulfur treating technologies (sulfur recovery, amine treating, sour water stripping, tail gas treating). Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in chemical engineering
  • Minimum 20 years process design experience in refinery and/or chemical process unit projects
  • In-depth knowledge of refinery process units specifically with heavy oil processing technologies
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, is required for interactions internal within Wood and our clients who are domestic and foreign
  • A willingness to travel as needed
  • Authorization to work lawfully in the US without sponsorship from Wood is required

  • Professional Engineering license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Understands the project delivery process and help define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals
  • Act in a supervisory role, Process Manager/ Chief Process Engineer, on projects assigned where you will manage and approve the work of process engineers to ensure the completion, technical accuracy, and quality of the process deliverables that are developed on projects assigned per company procedures and practices
  • Leads the review and approval of the development of PFD’s, P&ID’s, Mass and Energy Balances, Equipment Lists, Process Equipment Specifications, instrument process data, rate relief loads and pressure safety valve data, hydraulic calculations, and participation in safety review meetings such as HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, and What-If
  • Interacts and leads discussions with clients in technical meetings, site visits and business development meetings
  • Provide guidance and relevant technical information to other disciplines who are in mechanical, electrical, structural, estimating and process control groups.
  • Provide engineering expertise to optimize process systems and implement cost reduction opportunities
  • Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate system malfunctions and debottlenecks
  • Ensure adherence to Wood’s quality and safety standards
  • Regularly reports to a Department Manager and Project Manager on projects assigned
