About The Position

Pepper Source is a family-owned company that provides custom sauces, seasonings, and dry coating systems to all of the major poultry companies in the United States as well as the frozen food, meat, and food service industries. They develop and manufacture custom flavor profiles that meet their customers' specific needs, a process that requires innovation and extensive knowledge of the food industry. The Process Tech I operates mixing machines to blend ingredients into compounds for further processing.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and the ability to input data into a computer.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operates mixing machine to blend ingredients into compounds for processing.
  • Verifies ingredients prior to mixing batches.
  • Loads ingredients into mixing tank or blender.
  • Starts machine and adjusts valves or devices in mixing chamber to aid in blending and densifying mixture.
  • Operates machine until mixture reaches desired consistency.
  • Turns lever to unload mixture into kettles, pick system, totes, drums, and/or hopper.
  • Cleans and sanitizes mixing tanks, kettles, pick system, pumps, pipes, blender, and/or hopper.
  • Meets productivity standards and completes work in a timely manner.
  • Observes safety and security procedures, reports potentially unsafe conditions, and uses equipment and materials properly.
  • Follows instructions and responds to management direction.
  • Commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.
  • Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
  • Asks for and offers help when needed.
